Sound of the South West

Welcome to "Sound of the South West," where melodies blend with divine inspiration as we worship God with the gifts He has given us. We are calling all songwriters to send in their best song so that we can curate the sound of worship in Cornwall and Devon. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing top songwriting tips and favourite songs in our regular newsletter. Look out for Pursue Songwriting Camps coming soon…

Together, we embark on a faith-filled journey of musical celebration, where every note strums the chords of adoration, and every verse becomes a heartfelt song of worship.

  • "Sing to the Lord a new song ... praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day."

    Jeremy Riddle

  • "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy."

    Psalm 33:3 (NIV)

  • “Songs of worship arise from a life of worship.”

Your grace

Steve Gibson

This high energy summer song has us dancing as we walk the Cornish cost. Produced by Judah Ball (originally from Okehampton), this track has some great rhythms and harmonies. But most importantly, it points right to God and His grace, declaring our thanks for every drop.

All my days

Adam Stone

Sat behind a piano during lockdown, I wanted to find a way to say that we weren’t alone - that God was with us all day, every day. These lyrics came so easily. I pray that this song will be a blessing to you.

The fight

The Moses Brothers

The Moses Brothers started playing music and writing songs at a young age alongside each other, so as you can imagine there is a shared musical history having spent some formative years exploring their craft together. They love harmony, and mixing, and writing, and producing, and playing a plethora of instruments. Every good and perfect gift comes from Jesus!

The bridge of this song has a lot do with King David dancing his troubles away. 2 Samuel 6:22 NIV - I will become more undignified than this. I wrote this in a place of boredom on an insurance call, after seeing family members and myself going through dry seasons of depression and hope deferred regarding job loss, death of life and dreams etc. This song has helped me restore my heart to a place where I can love my enemies and friends better whilst guarding my heart.

We all need love

Will Allen

Plymouth based songwriter, Will Allen, loves aligning himself with the rhythms of heaven. This song, written and recorded during lockdown, is one of his favourite self-penned anthems because it reminds him of the reality of his salvation. There is unity to be found in worship, and singing together, recognising that ‘we all need love’ is incredibly important. We do not journey alone. We journey together.

You can make a way

Lin Nicholls

Leading worship across the South West, Lin’s vocals are full of passion and give off clear Lou Fellingham vibes in this song. She can currently be found at a new church plant in Plympton, Plymouth, where she leads worship each Friday night. This song is a incredible declaration that God’s power is more than enough to meet all our needs.

Overflow

Kevin Renshaw

Regularly writing songs with fellow musicians across the world, Kevin loves combining classic rock vibes with a Christian message. Having played in various bands for many years, he records and mixes much of his own music and is prolific in many genres. This song is a declaration that God can be trusted, and that we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit until we overflow…

You, Lord are my Shepherd

Taran and Kim Ash

As leaders of the unhindered worship event, Singing Rooms, based in Plymouth, Taran and Kim are used to singing out a new song in the early hours of the morning. Written in the style of a modern lament, this song, based on Psalm 23, is a beautiful way of focusing on the hope that God brings when times are hard.
